hello Halloum*eh!

Introducing Halloum*eh, a semi-hard, unripened, artisan grilling cheese produced by Loka Dairy for foodies and cheese lovers!

Loka Dairy is an on-farm dairy processing facility serving foodies and cheese lovers farm to table, artisan cheese. Located in the heart of Kawartha Lakes Region, we use the milk from our 55 holstein cows to make all of our cheese. This cheese is as Lokal as local gets.

This “Lokally” produced cheese is 3 steps to endless culinary opportunities; simply slice, grill, and enjoy! Halloumi cheese does not melt when heated so this cheese can be cooked in your kitchen, on the BBQ, or even deep fried if you really want to indulge. When grilled the outside develops a golden caramel crust and the inside a creamy and savoury experience, similar to the taste of a mild cheddar.

About Us

Perri Reesor Werry owner of Loka Dairy, producer of artisan Halloumi cheese

Loka Dairy was launched in 2020 by Perri Reesor Werry and her husband Dan Werry to share their love of dairy farming by making high quality dairy products from their family’s farm-fresh Ontario milk.

Perri always knew dairy farming was the life she wanted. While attending the University of Guelph she met her husband Dan, and together they are milking 50 holstein cows in Ontario’s Kawartha Lakes Region.

Perri is a 4th generation dairy farmer and Dan is a 5th generation, so their farming roots run deep.

Tasting fresh cheddar cheese that was made on Perri’s family dairy farm was a transformational experience which led Perri to her own experimentation with cheese production.  She completed the 5 Day Cheesemaking Short Course at University of Guelph and perfected the craft in her kitchen.  In 2023 she began construction of an on farm processing plant which is beside their dairy farm so she can use the freshest milk to make her cheese on site.
